roadtrip 2019

new mexico: chaco culture national historic park

***description

We visited the park two years ago and there are many images of the puebloan greathouses posted HERE The photos this trip did not duplicate those of 2019 but there were some treats.

mule deer

The loop road going to the sites of the greathouses is all in Chaco Canyon. Though no longer home to any humans other than the rangers, the canyon is home to a great variety of living things. Six mule deer crossed the road just a few hundred feet ahead. We stopped, and though the deer exhibited some curiosity we apparently posed no threat and we were able to get some close photos.

This one appeared to be younger and more curious.

The following photos are all of window openings, both chacoan-buit and nature-built.
